Beyond Calisthenics: SAGER at the Jordan Hybrid Race 2026

One sport builds your foundation. New challenges show you what you can do with it.

On October 16, members of the SAGER community took on a different kind of challenge at the Jordan Hybrid Race in Amman. Combining running with functional fitness stations, the competition tested participants across multiple aspects of athletic performance, from strength and endurance to conditioning and mental resilience.

For a community built around calisthenics, it was an opportunity to step outside familiar training environments and put those skills to the test in a different setting.

A Different Kind of Challenge

The Jordan Hybrid Race combined repeated 350-metre runs with a series of functional fitness stations. Participants faced challenges including a 1,000-metre row, sled pushes and pulls, farmer carries, sandbag bear-hug walks, weighted box step-overs, burpees over a log and wall balls.

With every station bringing a different physical demand, the race required more than strength alone. Athletes had to manage their energy, maintain their pace and keep moving through a demanding combination of running and functional exercises.

Our team competed in the Community Heroes and NextGen categories, embracing the opportunity to challenge themselves beyond their usual discipline.

Coaches Leading by Example

Two of our coaches, Adham Al Sqour and Ahmad Al Laham, competed in the Community Heroes category.

As athletes whose training is primarily focused on calisthenics, taking on a hybrid race meant putting themselves in a different competitive environment. Rather than sticking exclusively to what they know, they challenged themselves with a format that demands a broader combination of endurance, conditioning and functional strength.

At SAGER, we believe that being a coach doesn’t mean you stop being an athlete. Continuing to learn, test your abilities and experience new challenges firsthand is part of what makes a good coach. By participating themselves, Adham and Ahmad demonstrated the same willingness to push beyond familiar limits that they encourage in their athletes.

A Podium Finish for Legacy Gym

Representing Legacy Gym in the NextGen category for ages 14–16, Jazzi Al Jabori and Faisal Al Qassas took part in the Jordan Hybrid Race, earning second place in the teens category.

We’re proud to see our young athletes take on a new competitive challenge and achieve such a strong result. Their participation reflects the spirit we aim to build across the SAGER community: a willingness to step outside familiar routines, explore new disciplines and discover what we’re capable of beyond our usual training.

Congratulations to Jazzi and Faisal on their podium finish!

Representing the Quicksand Branch

Four athletes from our Quicksand Gym branch — Lilly Von Stackelberg, Ramez Hashweh, Rakan Mashni and Adnan Sleem — took part in the Community Heroes category, embracing the opportunity to challenge themselves in a competition that combined running with functional fitness.

Their participation reflects the spirit we aim to build across the SAGER community: a willingness to step outside familiar routines, explore new disciplines and discover what we’re capable of beyond our usual training.

We’re proud to see our athletes taking on new challenges and representing the Quicksand branch at the Jordan Hybrid Race.

More Than One Sport

Calisthenics remains at the heart of what we do at SAGER. But we believe that being a well-rounded athlete means being open to challenges beyond a single discipline.

Calisthenics develops strength, body control and endurance. Hybrid racing tests those qualities differently, combining them with running, loaded carries and other functional movements that require athletes to adapt as fatigue builds.

For our coaches, the race was an opportunity to challenge themselves beyond their usual training. For our athletes, it was a chance to explore another discipline and see how their preparation translates into a different competitive environment.

We’re proud of Adham, Ahmad, Jazzi, Faisal, Lily, Ramez, Rakan and Adnan for representing our community at the Jordan Hybrid Race.

Different challenges, different disciplines, same commitment to getting better.
